Ability

The bar is limited to 10 maximum skill equipped (modeled on the concept of the original Guild Wars), divided as follows: the first 5 skills depend from the weapon equipped and profession, for example, a warrior with a sword will have different abilities than other professions who can handle a sword. The last 5 skills depend on the race and profession, and are chosen by the player, whose one skill slots is dedicated to elite skills (specific skills much more powerful than standard, with devastating effects and recast later), another slot for healing skills. Many professions can also be equipped with two sets of weapons and can easily switch between them, for example warriors. All skills of the game are designed to be recognizable at sight by the visual and graphics effects, thus allowing players to recognize them! Article on the official website: combat system Part 1.
The races have racial skills and elite racial skills (eg. elite norn skills can shape-shifting in different animals). The game is still developing so there will still be new implementations and tests, so this is just a taste of what Guild Wars 2 will be!

  • Unlocking o l’upgrade in every tier depends on the level of the player. A tier is an upgrade of the effects and values of skills. For example, the tier 9 of the skills is unlocked at lv 80, each tier about a 10 levels!
  • Traits can modify the effect of the skills.
  • It’s possible to auto-use skills by right-clicking on their icon.
  • The skills may have different effects between PvE and PvP, to maintain balance of the game

In the PvE and World PvP initially many skills are blocked, including the skills associated to the weapons that can be wielded.
We have not really worked on a correct path for everyone, but here there are all the ways which you can get the Skill:

You can obtain skills in every way which you get items. We can give them through vendors such as drop, as rewards for quests, through events and through vendors of Karma – we can give them in all these different ways.
The skills associated with environmental weapons don’t need to be unlocked and are always bootable for the PvE and World PvP on the contrary in structured PvP all skills will already be unlocked, without having to have unlocked them in advance.
